AnnaGrace Pearls

My grandmother used to say to me, "A woman should own at least one set of fine pearl necklace and earrings in her lifetime". And the first fine jewelry set should be in pearls. Now you can own this timeless set from our shop with lasting shine and quality.

We market only 100% natural, Type A untreated cultured freshwater or saltwater pearls mostly from protected farms in South China Lakes and Sea, and some from South-east Asia and other Oceans. So History of Pearl Production emphasizes on China.

Pearl Uniqueness

Each real pearl by itself or in a strand is unique in size, thickness, surface smoothness (texture), sheen, overtone of color, weight and inclusions (birthmarks not considered as sub-par or defects, just unique and beautiful). There are no two real pearls are exactly identical, and so is each strand of pearls. So our pearls limited in quantity but superb in quality are made on what we can find during each treasure hunt trip. Real pearl is cold to the touch, it gets warm when you wear it, it is reflective with vivid color tones, and it is heavier.

Pearl Size & Type

The diameter of every pearl is measured in millimeters, varying from 2 to 21 mm and rounded off to the nearest 0.5 mm. Pearls in strands are measured differently. Measurements are taken perpendicular to the drill holes and expressed in half-millimeter ranges, for example, 6 to 6.5 millimeters. A Strand labeled as a 7.5 mm strand will be comprised of 7.0 mm - 7.5 mm pearls, with the smaller pearls being placed near the clasp. If the differential in the strand is greater then 0.5 mm then the strand is considered graduated.

Cultured pearl types, which include the freshwater, South Sea, Akoya and Tahitian, usually have a specific size range, and pearl sizes among the different types are getting larger due to more advanced technology in culturing better pearls in general.  Akoya (2.0 mm - 11.0 mm) and Freshwater pearls (2.0 mm - 23 mm). Tahitian or South Sea pearls are much larger (9.0 mm - 23.0 mm). Large Freshwater or Akoya cultured pearls would be of the same or higher value that a Tahitian pearl of the same size.

Pearl Shape & Color

Natural pearls come in different shapes, e.g. round, off round, baroque, biwa, oval, water-drop, rice-like, corn-like, coin-like etc., and a variety of single color tone, e.g. white, ivory, cream, gold, silver, peach, lavender, pink, black, grey etc., or multiple color tone, e.g. rainbow tone, peacock tone, gold tone in pink, or silvery or purple tone in gold, etc.. Of all the colors, gold, silver and black pearls are rare crops, sought-after items, and highly prized.

Perfect Pearl

Thickness and sheen are equal determinants for a perfect pearl. Larger, thicker, rounder, no blemish with mirror sheen and naturally colored pearls are considered perfect pearls, and are prized as quality and size of a pearl increases especially with those over 10 mm in perfect condition. So perfection dictates the price. It is an absolute joy to appreciate those beautiful natural sparkles and colors when I examine each authentic pearl during sourcing and working with them.
