Maintenance of Jade

Jade jewelry is truly unique accessory for any occasion. With the guide below, you can care for your favorite jade jewelry easily.

1. The beautification of jade. You need to wear the jade and let it contact your skin closely as often as possible instead of storing it up. The absorption of your body heat and breath can naturally promote the translucency, color tone increase and pattern spread, and the luster of the jade over time. Rub it gently with your clean fingers often on the jade can do the trick.

Jade is clean-water friendly. Once in a while, you can immerse the jade piece into a cup of clean water overnight or a day or two longer, then dry it (see 2) to wear it again. After the clean water treatment, you can see increased brightness and suppleness throughout the piece as jade absorbs water nutrient into its crystal matrix. I learned this secret from an experienced old jade dealer. You can treat any sheen-less (dried) or long unworn genuine jade pieces with the water treatment.

Jade has certain water content so keep it in an area of humidity to protect it from over-drying.

2. The cleaning of jade.  Use a soft wet cloth to gently wipe your jade until it is clean.  Or CLEAN IT UNDER CLEAN WATER ONLY.  Do not scrub at it, as scrubbing can scratch the surface. Avoid washing it with soaps, as soap can erode the surface. Dry your jade with a different soft cloth.

3. The maintenance of jade as follows:-

 a. Jade is delicate. Scratches and cracks can occur easily and are difficult to remove. Be careful not to bump your piece on hard surfaces, as it can cause internal fractures not seen by naked eye but will show up over time and devalue the jade.

 b. Store your jade jewelry best in lined jewelry box if not worn. To minimize scratching, do not allow pieces to touch each other.

 c. Do not store jade jewelry in the freezer or refrigerator as extreme low temperature can crack the jade.

 d. Keep jade away from sustained direct sunlight. The heat will cause it to expand and change the way it looks.

 e. Jade jewelry cannot contact any acid, alkali and organic solvent chemicals. These chemicals will erode the surface of jade.

 f.  Do not rub any lotion or spray perfume directly to the jade piece, as these chemicals can damage the luster of jade overtime.

 g. Keep away anything e.g. dust, greasy dirt, sweats that can impact the purity of jade jewelry to keep it to the brilliant condition. We are not responsible for any products deemed mistreated or worn out.

Take good care of your jade jewelry and you will be rewarded with a stunning piece that will last a very long time and may even become a family heirloom.
